Placer County Department of Agriculture, Parks, and Natural Resources is working to reduce hazardous fuel loading in County-owned parks and open space. The Tahoe Basin Fuel Load Reduction Project will contribute to community safety and wildfire resilience by removing ladder fuels, increasing spacing between healthy trees, removing hazardous trees, and reducing the buildup of down woody material.

Project Location: The Tahoe Basin Fuel Load Reduction Project encompasses 19 county-owned parcels (16.8 acres total) that are spread around the north and west sides of Lake Tahoe. There is a mix of wildland urban interface (WUI) parcels and urban lots, and all parcels are in proximity (less than 50ft) to structures.

Project Work Period: It is estimated that the project notice to proceed will be granted September 15^th, 2026. All project work must be completed by December 31^st, 2026.

Pre-Bid Job Walk: There will be an escorted pre-bid job walk into a project area sample to view and inspect various project treatments on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. We will meet at one of the project sites located at 300 N Ridge Drive, Carnelian Bay (APN 091-152-009; Unit 4). This is a residential neighborhood, so attendees may need to park a short distance away and walk to the meeting location.
